Mejor poema del mundo 2025
Poema por escribir, by Vanesa Perez-Sauquillo.
Including the thirty finalists
(Ediciones Nobel, 2025)
Every year, the Jovellanos International Poetry Prize
receives thousands of entries in different languages, all
competing for a goal as quixotic as it is dreamy:
to be “The Best Poem in the World.” On March 21,
a jury appointed by Ediciones Nobel
selects a winning poem and thirty finalists from
among all the entries. The result, collected
in this volume, is a showcase of the diversity
of styles and themes that populate today's poetry in
Spanish, with voices both established and unpublished,
both veteran and young, who light the way forward with their
own particular lantern. The text Poema
por escribir (Poem to be written) by Vanesa Pérez-Sauquillo, which has
won the award in this 12th edition, explores
precisely this multiple quality of the poem,
in which different ways of thinking and executing
verse are adapted to a single vanishing point: that
the poem flies free. "Whether it rhymes or not, /
it doesn't matter, / if it lifts its wings / in the end."

Poema por escribir
Muy de papiro
y muy de servilleta.
Tan de palacio
como de pajar.
Que tenga barro,
barrio y otras luces.
Y mucha rabia, amor,
derrota y paz.
Algo de lengua fuera
y de recato.
De gato y lluvia,
y ave sobre el mar.
Muy tuyo
y cada vez ya menos mío.
Cada palabra un juego
y paso atrás.
Que no rime o que rime,
nada importa,
si levanta las alas
al final.
